So far in 2025, a group of chapter board members participated in the NAIOP Annual Meeting in Washington DC and met with Senator Wyden’s staff and Senator Merkley to emphasize our focus and concern around local industry and employment trends, regulatory environment, and the need for thoughtful tax relief. From a state and local perspective, we have maintained dialogue with the County regarding their site selection process for shelter capacity and advocated against the proposed House Bill 3062 (See Pages 6-7 in public affairs to learn more) that proposes a greater regulatory burden on industrial development through intensive mapping analysis to identify “sensitive uses” areas.
On the networking and education front, we intend to host our long-standing events such as the Annual Bus Tour and Golf Tournament, while hosting several panel-based programs, networking specific socials, and Developing Leader Board hosted First Look events. The year started with a happy hour program focused on Albina Vision Trust Project, and our second NAIOP Oregon’s Women Network Event.
Operationally, in between monthly board meetings, the chapter held a full day strategic planning session in February, and focused on ways to maximize member and sponsor benefits. A new 2025 University Committee has been established, focused on growing connections and access with students interested in entering the industry.
The chapter board welcomed four new board members in 2025 and several new committee members. If you have interest in getting more involved, please reach out to NAIOP Executive Director Geoff Horning at manager@naioporegon.org regarding opportunities.
We look forward to delivering robust networking, education and advocacy throughout the year and thank you for your continued support of the Oregon NAIOP Chapter. - Travis Drilling, Lincoln Property Company
